Board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Richmond received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1996, where he was the recipient of the Weiss Prize for highest performance in clinical medicine and was honored as a Papanicolau Fellow in clinical anatomy. He completed an internship in general surgery at New York University Medical Center, followed by a residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan, which included subspecialty training in orthopaedic trauma surgery at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Following his residency, Dr. Richmond completed a fellowship in orthopaedic traumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, focusing on acute and reconstructive trauma surgery.

Dr. Richmond joined Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset in 2002 after completing his formal training. His practice is focused on the operative and non-operative treatment of fractures of the upper and lower extremities. Dr. Richmond has a special interest in the fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum (hip socket), along with the treatment of non-unions (unhealed fractures), post-traumatic deformity and other sequaelae of orthopaedic injuries.

Dr. Richmond is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the Association for Osteosynthesis/Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (AO/ASIF). He has lectured nationally and locally on various topics related to orthopaedic trauma surgery.

David V. Tuckman, M.D.David V. Tuckman, M.D.

Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Tuckman received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1998. He completed an internship in general surgery in 1999, and he completed a four year residency in orthopaedic surgery in 2003, both at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Tuckman was then dual-fellowship trained at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. One fellowship was in sports medicine/arthroscopy, and one was in surgery of the hand and upper extremity.

Dr. Tuckman began working in private practice in 2005, and he joined Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset in 2007. He specializes in surgery of the hand and upper extremity, as well as in sports medicine and arthroscopy. Dr. Tuckman has special interests in sports-related injuries as well as traumatic injuries of the upper extremity, including fracture, tendon and nerve laceration, post-traumatic reconstruction, and arthritis and nerve-related conditions of the hand and upper extremity.

Dr. Tuckman has lectured and published extensively on a broad range of topics relating to sports medicine, hand, elbow, and shoulder surgery. He is dedicated to teaching and is integrally involved in training residents in the North Shore University Hospital-Long Island Jewish Medical Center Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Tuckman has received numerous awards including the North Shore University Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine Consultant of the Year Award, the Long Island Jewish Medical Center Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Teacher of the Year Award, and the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System Outstanding Teacher Award.

Dr. Tuckman is board certified in orthopaedic surgery, and he has an additional Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in surgery of the hand. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of the American Medical Association, the New York Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Tuckman is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Michael J. Angel, M.D.Michael J. Angel, M.D.

Sports Medicine

Dr. Michael Angel was born and raised in Lynbrook, New York. He graduated with honors from SUNY Albany with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a career in finance prior to deciding to pursue a career in medicine. He went to Columbia University to obtain pre-medical education and then attended the prestigious Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, NY) where he received his medical degree.

Dr. Angel completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the North Shore University-Long Island Jewish Medical Center (New Hyde Park/Manhasset, New York) where he served as Chief Resident. After his residency, Dr. Angel went on to complete a fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, pioneer of the “Tommy John” elbow surgery that has prolonged the careers of many professional baseball players. During his fellowship, he assisted the head team physician in the orthopaedic care of the 2009 World Champion Los Angeles Lakers. In addition, he served as an assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Sparks, Anaheim Ducks, and the University of Southern California Trojans football team.

Working among innovators in the field of sports medicine, Dr. Angel has been trained in cutting-edge arthroscopic and minimally-invasive approaches to the shoulder, hip, elbow and knee, as well as joint-preserving and reconstructive procedures in the shoulder, knee and elbow. He has a special interest in arthroscopic procedures of the hip and shoulder. He specializes in the non-operative and operative management of injuries in youth and adult patients of all skill levels from recreational to professional athletes. He emphasizes the importance of injury prevention and rehabilitation, but recognizes the need for surgical treatment when conservative measures fail. As a varsity lacrosse player at Lynbrook High School and SUNY Albany, he understands the demands of today’s athlete to return to play in a timely manner and at a highly competitive level.

Dr. Angel has contributed to multiple orthopaedic publications including textbook chapters, reviews, articles and independent clinical and biologic research. His research has been published and presented at many national meetings as a fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has earned awards for his research, including accolades from the esteemed Orthopaedic Research and Education Fund.

Joseph A. Rothenberg, M.D.Joseph A. Rothenberg, M.D.

Board Certified Physiatrist

Dr. Rothenberg received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in 2005. He completed a one year internship at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh, followed by a three-year residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the New York Presbyterian Medical Center at Columbia and Cornell Universities. Dr. Rothenberg graduated from New York Presbyterian Medical Center at Columbia/Cornell in 2009. While at New York Presbyterian, he was elected resident vice-president and subsequently resident co-president of the New York Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. In 2009, Dr. Rothenberg was elected co-vice president of the New York Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a position he currently holds. Dr. Rothenberg completed his postgraduate fellowship in orthopaedic sports and spine at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City in 2010.

Dr. Rothenberg joined Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset in 2010. His practice focuses on interventional physiatry, sports medicine, and non-surgical treatments of the spine. Dr. Rothenberg has lectured nationally on sports medicine and spine topics. Dr. Rothenberg’s interests include various team and individual sports, such as baseball, football, golf, and swimming. Among other activities, Dr. Rothenberg has been actively involved as a medical volunteer with New York Road Runners, and has participated as such in the New York City Marathon and multiple races throughout the New York City region since 2007.

Dr. Rothenberg is a board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and subspecialty certified in sports medicine.  He is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr.Annabi

Amir Annabi, M.D.

Pain Management

Dr. Annabi specializes in providing patients with the optimal non-operative care for their musculoskeletal injuries particularly pain and injury of the spine.  His focus is on treatments to address the underlying biomechanics, improve function and lifestyle and control pain.  Dr. Annabi received his medical degree from New York University.  He completed his internship in General Surgery at New York Presbyterian Cornell which included rotations in Neurosurgery where he assisted in minimally invasive spine surgery.  This was followed by a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabiliation at New York Presbyterian Columbia/Cornell.  Dr. Annabi completed a post-graduate fellowship in Spine and Sports Medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery. 

His training focused on non-surgical treatment of joint injuries and back pain including the use of precision fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided injections.  His research focus while at HSS involved investigating the development and use of regenerative treatments for degenerative conditions of the tendons, joints and spine such as the use of Platelet enriched plasma (PRP) and Growth Factors.  Dr. Annabi has been involved as a medical volunteer providing coverage for the New York City Marathon as well as high school and collegiate sports team coverage.  He is a diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
