Stanley E. Asnis, M.D.
Dr. Asnis started his practice in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1975. His special interests lie in biomechanics and the development of orthopaedic systems for fracture fixation and total hip and knee replacements. He holds ten U.S. Patents for orthopaedic devices. He developed the first cannulated screw fixation system for fixation of hip fractures. In 1991 the "ASNIS SCREWS" were named by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Committee on the History of Orthopaedic Surgery as original Internal Fixation Devices for Fractures of the Proximal Femur. He has edited an orthopaedic textbook on the principles and techniques of cannulated screw fixation. Cannulated screw systems are now used worldwide for the fixation of many fractures. With his colleagues at NSUH he has developed a widely used system for total hip replacements and a new tibial component for total knee replacements. He has lectured both nationally and internationally on disorders related to the hip and knee. Dr. Asnis is the Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset. His private practice is with the Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset, PC. Total-hip and total-knee replacements are his clinical specialties. Dr Asnis is a Fellow of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons; a member of the American Orthopaedic Association, and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. As of September 2007, Dr. Asnis has been appointed Combined Chairman, Department of Orthopaedics, North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Hospital
Lewis B. Lane, M.D.
Dr. Lane joined Orthopaedic Associates in 1980. Dr. Lane's practice is confined to surgery of the hand, which is the specialty directed to the care and treatment of conditions that occur in the hand and wrist. Common problems that Dr. Lane treats are carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, sports related and other traumatic conditions, congenital problems, acquired problems like tendinitis and Dupuytren's contracture, just to mention a few. In addition to the care of patients with hand problems, Dr. Lane has dedicated himself to teaching and research. He is Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Albert Einstein Medical College. He is Chief of Hand Surgery for the Department of Orthopaedics at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and oversees the hand surgical training of orthopaedic residents from the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Orthopaedic Residency training program. He is also the Chairman of the Resident Selection Committee for the residency program. Dr. Lane has been an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Hand Surgery since 1991, and has served as President of the New York Society for Surgery of the Hand. He has more than 70 medical publications, and has presented and taught at nearly 100 international, national, and regional meetings and courses. He has been listed in Best Doctors in America, <>The Best Doctors in New York in New York Magazine, How to Find the Best Doctors, as well as Marquis' Who's Who in America. He has several patents on orthopaedic devices, and has also won medals and prizes for his teaching and research, and for his volunteer activitiesboth professional and community service. Dr. Lane is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Association, and the Orthopaedic Research Society.
Bruce A. Seideman, M.D.
Dr. Seideman has practiced since 1987 with Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset. His practice has focused on both primary and complex revision total hip and knee replacement surgery, as well as related disorders and arthritis of the hip and knee. He has developed with his colleagues at North Shore Hospital a widely used total hip replacement system and has performed clinical research on knee replacement systems. He has lectured nationally on various aspects of complex hip and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Seideman is the Chief of The Joint Replacement Service at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York. Total-hip and total-knee replacement are his clinical specialties. Dr. Seideman is a Fellow of The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a Diplomate of The American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and a member of The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
Nicholas A. Sgaglione, M.D.
Dr. Sgaglione received his M. D. degree from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City in 1983 and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed an internship in general surgery at Mount Sinai Hospital in 1984 and then trained in orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery until 1988. Dr. Sgaglione then completed a post-residency fellowship in sports medicine, arthroscopy and knee, shoulder, and elbow surgery at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles. Dr. Sgaglione is the Associate Chairman of the Departrment of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine at North Shore University at Manhasset, New York. He has been in a multispecialty group practice with Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset since 1989. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, American Orthopaedic Association, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the International Cartilage Repair Society. Dr. Sgaglione has held numerous leadership roles in the Arthroscopy Association of North America and is the current Chairman of the Education Committee and serves on the Program Committee. Dr. Sgaglione is a Master Instructor in Arthroscopy at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago and since 1989 has regularly lectured and taught nationally and internationally on knee, shoulder, and elbow surgery. Dr. Sgaglione is the orthopaedic consultant and team orthopedic surgeon for the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point and has served as an orthopedic consultant to the U. S. Olympic Ski Team and the U. S. Professional Golf Association. His specialty and research interests include knee, shoulder, and elbow arthoscopy and joint replacement surgery. Dr. Sgaglione has helped develop new arthroscopic meniscus repair devices and cartilage transplant scaffolds. He is also actively involved in the development of novel articular cartilage treatment methods to biologically resurface joints without artificial replacement using minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Sgaglione is the author of over 50 orthopaedic articles, book chapters, and clinical research papers and currently serves on the editorial board of several major orthopaedic journals. As of September 2007, Dr. Sgaglione has been appointed Associate Chairman, Department of Orthopaedics, North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Hospital.
Peter D. Stein, M.D.
Dr. Stein joined Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset in 1993. He has special interests in hand and wrist fractures, sports related injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, and arthritis of the hand and wrist. He is Chief of the Division of Hand Surgery at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a Hand Surgery Consultant for the Long Island Ducks Minor League Baseball Team. He has lectured on numerous topics in Hand Surgery both nationally and internationally. Dr. Stein is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and has a Certificate in Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Surgery of the Hand. He is a Fellow in the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of The American Society for Surgery of the Hand and The New York Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Richard J. D'Agostino, M.D.
Dr. D'Agostino is the Chief of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at St Francis Hospital in Roslyn, New York. He is an Assisant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery , Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He is an Attending at The North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The Eastern Orthopaedic Society, and the New York State Orthopaedic Society. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The Eastern Orthopaedic Society, the New York State Orthopaedic Society, and the International Cartilage Repair Society. Dr. D'Agostino's specialty interests include arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle and hip. He is currently on the development team of a shoulder replacement system. He is a lecturer and instructor nationally in innovative knee and shoulder procedures, including work at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago. He is a clinical investigator currently involved in the development of articular cartilage repair procedures, and was recognized for his work in a national forum. He has devoted his practice to the care and treatment of athletes and their injuries. He has worked with athletes at all levels, including collegiate, professional and Olympic men and women. Dr. D'Agostino is the team physician and orthopaedic surgeon for the Long Island Lizards professional lacrosse team. He is the orthopaedic surgeon and team physician for all sports at Nassau Community College. He is a former assistant team physician for the New York Yankees. He is a former ATP tennis physician, and has served as a consultant to the U.S. Professional Golf Association. He has been a consultant to the United States Figure Skating Association. He is a U.S.A. Hockey certified coach at Cold Spring Harbor High School.
Hamid R. Mostafavi, M.D.
Dr. Mostafavi is the Chief of the Division of Orthopaedic Trauma at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset. He has been in a multispecialty group practice with Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset since 1998. He has special interest in operative and non-operative treatment of fractures, upper extremity trauma (shoulder, humerus, elbow, forearm and wrist injuries), lower extremity trauma (hip, femur, knee, tibia, foot and ankle injuries), pelvic and acetabulum fractures, management of polytrauma patients, geriatric fractures, nonunions and post-traumatic deformities. Dr. Mostafavi has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and has lectured nationally on numerous topics in the field of Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery. Dr. Mostafavi is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, American Medical Association, Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the AO/ASIF.
Jeffrey H. Richmond, M.D.
Dr. Richmond joined Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset in 2002 after completing his formal training. His practice is focused on the operative and non-operative treatment of fractures of the upper and lower extremities. Dr. Richmond has a special interest in the fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum (hip socket), along with the treatment of non-unions (unhealed fractures), post-traumatic deformity and other sequaelae of orthopaedic injuries. Dr. Richmond is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the AO/ASIF. He has lectured nationally and locally on various topics related to orthopaedic trauma surgery.
Martin M. Dolan, M.D.
Dr. Dolan completed his internship in general surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Cornell Medical Center in 1999, and residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery/Cornell Medical Center in New York in 2004. Dr. Dolan then went on to complete three years of fellowship training at Harvard Medical School. After spending a year as a research fellow studying bone cell biology in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Children's Hospital, Boston, Dr. Dolan then stayed on at Children's Hospital where he completed his clinical fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery. This was followed by an additional year of specialty training in hand, microvascular, and upper extremity surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Children's Hospital, Boston. Dr. Dolan joined the Orthopedic Associates of Manhasset in 2006. He specializes in adult and pediatric surgery of the hand and upper extremity, and in the care of children and adolescents with orthopedic conditions. Dr. Dolan's interests include the treatment and reconstruction of traumatic and post-traumatic injuries, congenital differences, and sports-related injuries of the upper extremity. Other interests include general hand, elbow, and shoulder surgery, as well as general pediatric orthopedic surgery. Dr. Dolan is has privileges at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, NY, and Schneider's Children's Hospital in New Hyde Park, NY.
David V. Tuckman, M.D.
Dr. Tuckman received his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1998. He completed an internship in General Surgery in 1999, and completed a four-year residency in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2003, both at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Tuckman was then dual fellowship trained in Sports Medicine/Arthroscopy and Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. Dr. Tuckman started in private practice in 2005, and joined Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset in 2007. He specializes in Surgery of the Hand and Upper Extremity, as well as in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy. Dr. Tuckman has special interest in sports-related injuries, traumatic injuries of the upper extremity, including fracture, tendon and nerve laceration, post-traumatic reconstruction, and arthritis and nerve-related conditions of the hand and upper extremity. Dr. Tuckman has lectured and published extensively on a broad range of topics relating to sports medicine, hand, elbow, and shoulder. Dr. Tuckman is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, is a member of the American Medical Association, the New York Society for Surgery of the Hand, and is a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
