Hamid Mostafavi, MD, received his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1990. He completed his internship in general surgery at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and his orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn (Downstate Medical Center). Following his residency, Dr. Mostafavi spent 12 months at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, completing a fellowship in orthopedic traumatology.
Dr. Mostafavi has been in practice with Orthopaedic Associates of Manhasset since 1998. He was chief of the Division of Orthopaedic Trauma at North Shore University Hospital at Manhasset from 1998 until 2016. His special interests include direct anterior hip replacement, operative and nonoperative treatment of fractures, upper extremity trauma (shoulder, humerus, elbow, forearm, and wrist injuries), lower extremity trauma (hip, femur, knee, tibia, foot and ankle injuries), pelvic and acetabulum fractures, management of polytrauma patients, geriatric fractures, non-unions, and post-traumatic deformities.
Dr. Mostafavi has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and has lectured nationally on numerous topics in the field of orthopedic trauma surgery.
Dr. Mostafavi is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS), and an active member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association and the Association for Osteosynthesis / Association for the Study of Internal Fixation (AO/ASIF).
